About Andrew

A regular on television and radio Andrew Pierce has enjoyed a stellar career in the media over more than 40 years. A seasoned political commentator he is one of the best connected journalists in Britain. His columns and commentaries in the Daily Mail, where he is the Consultant Editor, are required reading. Andrew has been on first name terms with every Prime Minister since Margaret Thatcher. He would be the first to admit, and would in fact take it as a badge of honour, that he has clashed with every occupant of 10 Downing Street since he started work as a political scribe at Westminster in 1988. He rose to the rank of Assistant Editor of The Times and performed the same role at the Daily Telegraph. He has his own programme on GB News and is a regular political pundit on GMB with his frenemy Kevin Maguire.

He knows everyone in the Westminster village and his ability to ferret out scandal and gossip means that he has a reputation for breaking stories that the great and the good might prefer kept quiet. He’s also a regular on the showbusiness red carpet. Charismatic and confident he is in big demand on the after dinner speaking circuit and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for LGBT causes.

He has written a moving, amusing and powerful book about the search for his birth mother. Finding Margaret: Solving the Mystery of my Birth Mother. He knew he had lived in a Roman Catholic orphanage in Cheltenham for more than two years and was adopted when he was three years old, by a family who loved him. Brought up on a Swindon council estate his first job, which he started two weeks after he finished his A Levels, was on a newspaper in the same town where he lived in the orphanage for the first two years of his life. As he became more successful as a journalist, and despite the guilt he felt that he was betraying the mum he loved very much who adopted him, Andrew began to tentatively search for his birth mother, only to find that she had done her very best to ensure he would never find her. But he did and then stumbled on an extraordinary story about his apparent birth father. His book is a heart-warming page turner that takes the reader on an extraordinary journey. Full of amusing and eye-catching anecdotes, at its heart lies the inspirational story of a man’s long search for his birth mother and what happened when he finally found her.
